Switching to SonSpeak from any paid AAC app
What carries over, what doesn't, and how to keep your kid's vocabulary alive.
Will my kid lose their vocabulary?
No. Switching AAC apps used to be terrifying because each app stored its data in a proprietary format, but the actual *vocabulary* — the words your kid uses — lives in your kid, not the app. What we're really migrating is the visual layout and the recordings.
What carries over automatically
What does NOT carry over (and what to do)
A 30-minute migration plan
1. **5 minutes**: Sign up at /register and pick the right age-pack starter board. 2. **10 minutes**: Open your old app side-by-side. Walk the top 30 most-used tiles and recreate any custom ones in SonSpeak's tile editor. 3. **10 minutes**: Record voices for your top 10 tiles using the in-app recorder. The 'I love you' tile is mandatory. 4. **5 minutes**: Set up the rest later. Don't try to recreate the entire 200-tile board today.
What about clinical settings?
Therapists and schools don't pay for SonSpeak, and never see a checkout. Sign up at /register, switch to therapist mode, and you'll have a multi-client dashboard with share-link push and weekly progress reports so you can hand families a board that's ready to go.
